Early Life and Education
Brian Bares' upbringing is deeply rooted in the American Midwest, and his investment awakening came from a fascination with mathematical logic and admiration for the Oracle of Omaha (Warren Buffett). Nebraska Roots: Bares grew up in Nebraska, also the home state of Warren Buffett. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics with high honors. Early Buffett Disciple: While in college, he read through all of Berkshire Hathaway's annual shareholder letters. Unlike many who only learn "buy and hold," his math background gave him a keen insight into the essence of compounding and the tremendous potential of applying compounding in areas of market inefficiency, such as small-cap stocks. Credentials: He later earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is an active member of the CFA Society of Austin.
