Early Life and Education
Adam Wyden was born into a family steeped in both politics and business, which gave him a unique lens on the world. Family background: His father is Ron Wyden, the senior U.S. Senator from Oregon. His stepmother, Nancy Bass Wyden, is the owner of New York’s legendary Strand Bookstore. This upbringing exposed him to the inner workings of power and commerce from an early age. Education: He earned a B.A. in Economics from Columbia University. Business beginnings: Unlike many classically trained investors, he displayed sharp business instincts during college. While at Columbia, he not only managed his own investment account but also reportedly flipped high-end used cars and watches to cover tuition and living expenses—a “street smart” sensibility that later infused his investing style.
